The role, under the supervision of senior SME, residing within the Food Safety Center of Excellence (FSCoE), will support the design, deployment, and execution of PepsiCo food safety programs (which include food safety plan/HACCP, pathogen environmental monitoring, sanitation, allergen program, physical hazards, water reuse, etc.), help resolve food safety challenges facing supply chain and R&D, and also provide consulting services to other regions. This role will also allow the company to react to existing or emerging food safety requirements in a timely and holistic fashion.
Responsibilities- Improve, deploy, and execute PepsiCo food safety programs, like Food Safety Plan, Pathogen Environmental Program, sanitation, allergen program, physical hazards, water reuse, etc.
- Provide food safety SME support to R&D, Supply Chain stakeholders for safe, stable and legal production.
- Provide support to plants to close regulatory gaps (if any) in a timely fashion to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assess food safety risks and develop proposals and strategies of executing recommended process, program, and procedural improvements to support the mitigation and control of hazards and contaminants, through consultation of existing food safety program and global manuals.
- Conduct horizon scan to identify, test and roll out new process technology in support of food safety initiatives.
- Apply risk assessment to various scenarios to come up with proper strategy to control the risk.
- Collaborate with sector functional teams to drive Winning with Purpose and our Faster, Stronger, Better agendas related to food safety.
- The individual may also support the food safety in sustainability initiatives (water and packaging material re-use) against food safety standards.
- Ability to travel to field locations up to 50%.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $76,400 - $127,850.

- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.

- B.S. with 3-4 years industry experience or M.S. with 1-2 years industry experience or PhD with 1+ years of industry experience in Food Science, Food microbiology, Engineering, or other related technical fields.
- Direct experience in food safety, pathogen environmental monitoring, food microbiology, or sanitation in food manufacturing is a plus.
- PCQI certification or good understanding of food safety hazard assessment is a plus.
- Good understanding of basic food processing or manufacturing and the related food safety and quality programs.
- Strong organizational and data management skills.
- Achieve quality results consistently despite obstacles. Monitors progress against goals, identifies issues and takes corrective action early.
- The candidate must be a team-oriented person with skills that effectively bring people and issues to decisive resolution.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with manufacturing personnel and gain commitment from others to accomplish work.
