Role Overview
The key purpose of this role is to handle transportation planning and execution tasks. Business process scope to include primary international and domestic logistics transportation. Job holder will collaborate and work in partnership with SC Planning, Customer Service, Warehousing, other Transportation peers, Master Data teams and Carriers and enable them to deliver Customer Service Level and Holistic Cost Management.
ResponsibilitiesDomestic and International Transportation Planning and Execution
- Develop and execute domestic and international logistics transportation plans
- Transfer shipment details to other systems, such as ERP and WMS, and manage transportation requirements and timelines.
- Ensure effective communication with relevant departments to address issues such as unloading schedules, prioritization, and delays at customer locations.
- Address and manage exceptions, including 24-hour delivery requests, SPOT orders, and dedicated truck slot bookings.
Warehouse Slot and Capacity Management
- Plan capacity requirements, providing accurate and timely information to support warehouse operations.
Issue Resolution and Claims Management
- Collaborate with the Customer Service and Warehouse teams to discuss mitigation strategies and align on customer ans carrier communications.
- Inform the warehouse and customer service of refusals and cost-adjusted returns, ensuring proper coordination on corrective actions.
Transportation Optimization and Efficiency
- Analyze feedback from carriers on transportation acceptance, perform optimization for various logistics needs (FTL, LTL, RT, dedicated trucks), and manage daily feedback on delays and risks to implement timely solutions.
Performance Management - Transportation
- Report service level issue in terms of rejections
- Prepare and communicate aggregated report to BU and carriers/SPOC;
- Evaluate transportation KPI’s. Evaluate results and make reconciliation with carriers; Assess transportation companies’ performance (truck availability performance, timely supply to the plant)
- Utilise automation to enable root cause analytics through escalation and response to expedite ability of operational teams to drive to problem resolution
Domestic & International Carrier Management
- Process and audit carrier invoices and documents
- Maintain carrier selection rules and rates, and monitor service compliance
- Manage / influence transportation fleet and 3rd party carrier performance
- Work with procurement to hold transportation bids and select carriers
- Transport capacity forecast report & communication to carriers
- University degree
- Mandatory min 2-3 years experience in similar position (preferably FMCG)
- Knowledge of European rules and regulations for drivers and vehicles preferrable
- Awareness of Lean principles nice to have
- Fluent oral and written communication skills, both in English and German
- Advanced knowledge of marcro creation
- Proven track of enhancements/process improvements
- Experience in reporting tools like Power BI as well as advanced Excel skills
- High ownership and problem solving skills
- Experience in transportation management system and SAP usage nice to have
